Immediate Help Needed in Area hit by Cyclone in Arakan, Western Burma
On October 22, 2010, Cyclone Giri hit Arakan State, Burma. According to the United Nations report, 70975 homes were destroyed, 157 people were killed, and over 200,000 people are in desperate need of emergency food, drinking water, medicine, and shelter.
United Nations and World Food Program efforts are helping a little bit, but thousands of people are still in great need of your help. Over one week after Cyclone Giri, thousands of people are suffering from disease because people still don't have any food, drinking water or medicine.
Two days later after Cyclone Giri, U Kovida and some Arakanese monks, who are going to college in Thailand, collected over $3000 from other monks and 3 of the monks went to Burma to provide some food and water to address the critical needs. The money was a very small amount, but we all hoped we could save many lives with our love.
This is the time to prove our love and compassion from our hearts by taking action. With our joint effort and a donation of any amount, you can be of great value in helping others who are facing much suffering in the cyclone affected area. They will deeply appreciate any of your kind help.
We set up some webs and blogs for more info about Cyclone Giri in Arakan, Burma.
